Quantified Self Labs is wholeheartedly dedicated to creating conferences and events that are safe and comfortable for everyone involved. For us, this means providing a harassment-free experience for every participant, regardless of gender, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, or religion.
Harassment includes offensive verbal comments related to gender, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, religion, sexual images in public spaces, deliberate intimidation, stalking, following, harassing photography or recording, sustained disruption of talks or other events, inappropriate physical contact, unwelcome sexual attention. We think it is obvious – but not too obvious to state – that our commitment to supporting all our attendees extends to the whole conference, including exhibitors’ and sponsors’ materials.
We are committed to addressing these issues, so if you are being harassed or notice somebody being harassed, please bring the issue to our attention. Your conference organizers are Gary Wolf, Ernesto Ramirez, Steven Jonas, Marcia Seidler, and Kate Farnady. If you have trouble locating or identifying us, just ask any volunteer to point one of us out. We value our community and it is the highest priority for us that participants feel safe at our events. We will provide any assistance within our power to help participants contact hotel/venue security or local law enforcement, provide escorts, or otherwise assist those experiencing harassment to feel safe for the duration of the event. We have adopted this policy both for the practical purpose of saying what we’re committed to doing and to signal our support of the anti-harassment campaign going on throughout the tech community. (You can learn more about this campaign from the Ada Initiative.)
Gary Wolf, Steven Jonas, and Erica Tanamachi.
